Reiki, for me, isn’t just energy work. It’s communion.
It’s how I listen beneath the surface, how I speak the language of love through the body.
It’s a remembering that healing doesn’t always mean fixing, but rather restoring connection between soul and form.
My 17 1/2 year old chihuahua, Fawn, was the one who taught me this. She’s the heart behind Fawna — our name, our purpose, our why.
Fawn was my tiny fairy friend, my anchor to the Earth and its elements. She came into my life fragile and full of light, eventually carrying the weight of her body’s illnesses, kidney disease among them. I wanted to ease her pain, to help her feel safe in her body again. So I began offering her reiki, not knowing it would become one of the most sacred portals of my life.
The first time I placed my hands on her the room grew still. Her breath slowed, her muscles softened, her energy began to open like a flower turning toward the sun. I felt her anxiety quiet, her spirit settle. The energy that moved through her was ancient, intelligent, deeply loving. It was as if the Earth herself had reached through me to remind Fawn she was held.
Over time, reiki helped ease her symptoms, her appetite returned, her eyes grew brighter. And even her kidney disease, once considered irreversible, was declared cured. But what I cherish most is how it connected us. The sessions became our language. One beyond words, where I could sense her thoughts, her fears, her love.
When it was time for her to transition, I felt it before it happened. My hands were on her as she took her last breath, and I felt her energy lift. Weightless, radiant, rising above me. The air shimmered with her presence. In that moment, grief and grace merged; I could feel her everywhere. In the days that followed, she spoke through signs — songs, numbers, lights, sensations ~ making sure I knew she was still with me, only now in another form.
That experience changed everything. It showed me how reiki bridges worlds, how it soothes pain, restores trust, and reminds us that love never leaves. It transforms fear into peace, separation into connection.
This is the foundation of Fawna. Through our sessions, Matt and I bring that same reverence into every home we enter. We carry the grounded eyes of artists, capturing the invisible tenderness between you and your animal; those fleeting, holy moments that become fine art heirlooms. We bring the sensitivity of reiki, attuning to what can’t be seen, creating a cocoon of calm that allows both guardian and pet to soften and be.
Together, we create spaces where healing and artistry meet. Where energy becomes image, and love becomes something you can see, hold, and remember.
Fawna is more than a name, it’s a continuation of Fawn’s spirit.
It’s a living altar to the bond that never breaks.
And every session we offer is a quiet prayer of gratitude for the way she taught me ~
that the real magic of healing is presence: pure, unconditional, and alive in every breath.
